Locks of Love

I have always insisted that I would not cut my hair after having a baby. I just can't bear to fit stereotypes. However, I have been thinking about doing it for a while now, and then the other day my friend Kendra mentioned cutting her hair off to donate it to Locks of Love. That kind of pushed me just the last little bit and so this afternoon I went and had 12 inches cut off! I've got this braid in an envelope all ready to go to the post office on Monday.

I figured, I have lots of hair and it grows back so fast, why not. I had only planned to cut about 6-8 inches off, but for Locks of Love it has to be 10 inches and we decided to go with a full 12. I don't think that I have ever cut this much off at a time before. I think that my hair just might be shorter than Liz's now. Scary thought.

I forgot to take a before picture, but here is my new hair cut!

Want me to make you something special?

My friend Brandi is going to make me something special because I signed up on her blog, now it's your turn to get something special from me!

The first 5 people to respond to this blog will get something made especially for them, by me, should be fun, right!

So here's the "games" mumbo jumbo:

  • I have one year to get you your special gift - It really shouldn't take that long though.
  • What I make you will be one of a kind, hopefully.
  • You won't know what it is until it arrives at your doorstep.
  • You have to repost this on your blog and do the same for the first 5 responses to you.

New Projects

Well, our little girl is starting to grow some hair, but it will be a while before she has enough for me to do anything with it. While she is as cute as can be on her own, I thought that some accessories might be fun.So, I found a great crochet pattern for a headband. You can find the pattern here. Rather than sew a little crocheted flower on it I decided to make some bow and put them on clips so that they are interchangeable. I see it all the time, but as always, I like to do it myself. Here are a few of the bows that I have made so far. I'm in the process of making more because they are so cute on my little girl and so easy to make.

I have made a few like this little blue flower. They are a very simple pattern.

Tyson picked out this green patterned ribbon. I'm not sure what it will match, but it is always fun when daddy picks something out for his baby girl. I'll find ways to make it work.

And the green polka dots are just cute!

I found all of these patterns and more here.

Enjoy!

Too soon?

I had Tyson watch Lily while I made lunch and he decided that they should watch TV together and gave her the remote. She seems to like having the power. She even pulled up her dress a bit to play with her belly button! She has recently discovered her hands and likes to grab onto anything and everything. It is making her mommy think about cutting her hair.
She really is just the cutest and chubbiest thing ever!

New Blog

Most of you know that I really like to cook. I have my staples that I love to make, but I also really enjoy trying new things, whether that means trying out a new recipe of throwing something together all on my own. So, I decided to create yet another blog. This new one will be all cooking and food related. I'll post new recipes and I'll write about some of my fun little tricks in the kitchen.
I've been working out new ways to create some of my favorites while also keeping the food healthy. Some of you know that I have been dieting (who doesn't after having a baby), so these recipes will usually be a little lower in fat and calories.
Here it is, I hope that you enjoy!

Story Telling

Just a short little video of Lily telling a story and smiling. Enjoy!

...Three Months...

Today Lily is three months old! We are one quarter of the way through the year already, I can hardly believe it.

The is getting so much more playful and interactive. She loves to smile, laugh, and tell stories all the time. She is so expressive with her eyes. She is so strong and loves to be on her feet and can bear her own weight really well.

And, since we have completed another month, it is time for a new onesie and some new pictures.
The Front:The Back:And of course Lily modeling it for us:

The back...and Lily with her luvy...She had her shots today and passed out soon after we got home from the doctor's office.

Shots

Because of some wonderful state government issues Lily did not get her first does of shots at her 2 month appointment. This morning we went to the doctor and everything went well. The nurse was so great and it took a total of 5 seconds from start to finish. Lily is such a trooper, she cried for about 15-20 seconds and then calmed right down. She is feeling a little crummy now, but we'll survive.
Here she is lifting her dress up a bit to show off one of her band-aids.
